Emmys 2017: Viola Davis, Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson, Titus Burgess, Regina King, Uzo Aduba & More Score Nominations

The 2017 Emmy nominations are in and this year is the most diverse group ever!

In total, 25 people of color were nominated across the Emmys’ 18 onscreen acting awards — three more than the 22 nominated in 2016.

Of the major acting categories (not including guest and short-form), 16 were nominated.

Last year, people of color represented 24.6 percent of the major acting nominees and 21.9 percent in 2015.

‘Atlanta,’ ‘black-ish,’ and ‘Master of None’ each picked up nominations in major acting categories. Donald Glover, Anthony Anderson and Aziz Ansari will go head-to-head in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy category.

Viola Davis is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for ‘How to Get Away With Murder.’ Regina King scored a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series thanks to ‘American Crime.’

Cicely Tyson, Wanda Sykes, Tracee Ellis Ross, Samira Wiley, Leslie Jones, Titus Burgess, Angela Bassett and a host of others were nominated in various categories.

Surprisingly, Issa Rae and ‘Insecure’ got snubbed.
